As the renewal deadline approaches, all Solomon residents with dogs and cats (pets) or chickens and ducks (poultry) are reminded to update their permits. Staying compliant helps maintain public safety and animal welfare in our community. Here’s a quick guide on how to renew your permits, the fees involved, and the regulations you need to know.
ANNUAL RENEWAL DEADLINES
Permits for all dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks must be renewed by March 31st each year.
FEES AND APPLICATION PROCESS
- Dogs/Cats
- $3.00 for spayed or neutered pets.
- $5.00 for intact pets.
- Poultry
- $25.00 annual renewal fee.
PET OWNERSHIP REMINDERS
- Immunization: A completed certificate of rabies immunization is required to complete registration.
- Limits: Households are limited to four animals older than six months unless a kennel license is obtained.
POULTRY OWNERSHIP REMINDERS
- Limits: Each household may keep up to six hens; roosters are prohibited to minimize noise disturbances.
- Inspections: Permit holders must comply with city inspections of any premises where poultry is housed to ensure welfare and compliance with regulations.
- Sanitary Conditions: Coops and enclosures must be maintained in a clean and sanitary condition to avoid permit revocation.
CONSEQUENCES OF NON-COMPLIANCE
Failure to renew permits or adhere to local animal regulations can result in fines, court costs, or both.
